I like to make people explode. I know exactly how that feels. I don't have a problem with that. When they signed up for eve, they signed up for everything I can (and will) throw at them. It's a game. I'm part of the game. If you can't stand to lose it, don't fly it, because I WILL shoot at you.
I do not consider myself a cruel person, and would never dream of wilfully inflicting pain on an innocent person in real life.

And so the greatest mystery of grinding MMOs is brought up again. And no-one ever seems to be able to answer. So many people say they hate doing something in game. WELL STOP THEN, K?

I hate going to work but I love getting a paycheck so I can buy things. Same principle. I hate making ISK, but I love buying toys to blow stuff up.
So why not make ISK in a way you enjoy?

Originally by: Juwi Kotch If it would be only about PvP, people would not shoot on rookie ships or capsules, since that has no reward at all.
Sir, I beg to differ.

Game mechanics don't reward me with ISK for every beer I drink. I've tried, just doesn't work.
What about piracy? What about blowing up NPCers? What about any of the myriad ways of making ISK through PvP, if that is what you like doing...

Care to elaborate?
Pods can be ransomed, bounties can be collected, corpses can be sold to enemies. Still, pods aren't what very profitable.
Nubships and shuttles, on the other hand, can drop shiny stuff

It can happen, and I will shoot everyone I see, on the off-chance that they will drop something.
Also, because it's what I do. I know it makes them angry, and I don't care. Well, that's not entirely accurate. I find it hilarious when people get angry enough you can feel them beating their keyboards against their monitors while spewing a tirade of abuse through the eve chat system. It makes my day.
Does that make me a bad person?
Is schadenfreude really something abnormal, or just something inherent in every human, though expressed differently?

Good question, actually I don't think it's abnormal. Many things people would like to do are not abnormal, however not regarded as an acceptable behaviour as well. It's about being civilized.
And we don't do them, because we see them as wrong. Blowing up someone's car adversely affects them in a meaningful way, that they never agreed to, and would strike me as wrong. In eve, I am a pirate, not a member constraint to the strictures of civilisation.
In an internet game, what we do is not real. I will blow someone's spaceship up, because it's a game. When they played the game, they signed up to that choice: that they are open to PvP.
The game is as much pirates, like me, as carebears.

If i jump into a system and see a mining op, whether or not they log out their covetors i WILL blow up their ore cans. if someone is hellbent on camping me into the station, i go afk and do stuff IRL, coming back periodically to dock/redock and waste his time. killing ships is only one of a number of things one can do to cause pain.
That is pretty much the definition of a griefer - which is banned. So, why aren't you banned?
Because that is the game CCP have created, and they don't care. That clause exists in the rules simply so that any player going to harassment levels to grief players (following and repeatedly killing another player who just wants to escape) beyond normal game levels can be acted against, should it become deemed necessary.
